My first trip to Memphis was to photograph Allen & Helen’s wedding reception. And everything about the trip was simply awesome. Allen & Helen are an absolute gorgeous couple and you’d mistake them for movie stars. 🙂 I joke, but they made a mini-movie for their wedding entrance and it was very well done and funny. The movie was done for their wedding in Taiwan this past December.
You probably gathered by now this isn’t the traditional wedding. They had their big wedding in Taiwan, then had reception with some of the ceremonies in Memphis. The day started with a group of friends going to Eighty3 for brunch. There was lots of laughter, great food, and then a beautiful rooftop view afterwards for some group photos and taking in the view for all the out of towners.
There was some down time after brunch, where I followed Allen to Helen’s parent’s place to relax, while Helen gets all dolled up (not as if she needed it). Helen’s parent’s place was absolutely beautiful with the lake, trees, and greenery. It was nice and relaxing and Allen got to spend time with his two twin nieces from Taiwan.
The festivities were to start at Esplanade Memphis banquet hall. Fortunately, I had a few minutes before the reception to get some amazing shots of Allen and Helen together. Can you tell the camera absolutely loves them? I can 😀 … but I could be partial. And then we started the formalities with a few words from the parents, greeting guests, cake cutting, and formal dances. Oh and if you noticed she got changed into her traditional Taiwanese dress for the cake cutting and greeting guests. Then the real party started … Helen got into her dance dress and I could see why. I can’t remember a wedding where there was so much dancing and energy. Then I remember I was in the south. 🙂
Finally, the guests that hung out to the end were treated with a duet from the wedding couple. How can you top off a wedding that ends with a duet from the bride and groom? YOU CAN’T! Enjoy!
